Cook yourself thin Lifetime changes are a must if you want to improve your quality of health over the long haul. While certain fad diets give you short term results, you usually gain the weight back when you return to your normal habits.
In order to see long term results from a change in diet, you need to consider this a lifetime change rather than something you just do for six weeks and then go back to business as usual. Here are some tips to get you on the road to healthy living.
Cook your own meals. I know you’ve heard this a thousand times. That obviously means that this is a key factor in a healthy lifestyle. When you cook for yourself, you control the ingredients that go into your food. You also control the quantity and quality of your food. Have you noticed how big the portions are at restaurants? A lot of time you’ll have enough food for two people on your plate. When you cook at home, you can make sure you are feeding your family the proper portion sizes.
Exercise regularly. This is another one that gets repeated over and over again. Our bodies were meant to be mobile. Unfortunately, our lifestyle usually doesn’t encourage mobility. Our jobs require us to sit at the computer for eight to ten hours a day, and we usually have to commute at least one hour to get to work.
It can be difficult to squeeze in enough exercise in our busy day. One easy way to do this is to turn on the tv. Many cable providers have an exercise channel. Find a workout that suits you, and start doing it. You must add exercise to your healthy eating lifestyle in order for your healthy eating to make a difference.
Get enough sleep. I know, I know, you’re too busy to sleep. It’s vitally important for you to discipline yourself to go to bed at a reasonable time. You’ll be more productive when you’ve had enough sleep.
For most people, this means eight hours a day. This may mean that some of your tasks will have to wait until tomorrow. I know that sounds like procrastination, but you won’t be getting anything done if you’ve passed out because your body is fatigued.
Cooking your own meals is a cornerstone to a healthy lifestyle. There are certainly other factors involved, but this is probably the biggest one. When you eat right, you’ll have more energy to do the other things you need to do to stay healthy.
